1. the whole portfolio resides on one huge page. begins with just the categories and a click on one category would animate the page to a corner showing the entire collection of that category.
2. similar to number one, but with a hot button effect (print= up, web=down, motion=right, back=left) - going any direction would animate but also create an overlay of more options and/or images.
3. stack of books in a 3d space that each hold print, motion, web, etc.

CHINESE LANTERN QUICK RESEARCH:
what is the impact/relationship to other products?
-RELATIONSHIP
materials made out of: papers, wires, woods, electrical
hangs off of other products
used to illuminate other products
what is one argument (from a social, historical, technical, or environmental point of view) that can be made about the object?
-ARGUMENT: social, historical
:this object (chinese lantern) is an incredibly prominent symbol in the chinese culture.
:many hundreds of years ago, this symbol or object held religious affiliations.
:the lantern is used to tell stories, feelings, emotions, and events (i.e. white meaning someone had died)
:the lantern today is used in certain celebrations such as the chinese new year.
:the chinese lantern has also become a part of other cultures (such as the american culture), however omitting the social and historical significance. - yet another americanized object.
what are the ramifications or benefits of this system?
benefits of this system could/would be the education of the lantern, or chinese culture in general- and that one should understand the meaning - or great mode of communication that this object holds.
ramifications could include the superiority complex of cultures (american or chinese) in what people can have, hold, and use to their discretion.
how could that engage in a dialectic based on the second postcard?
the fact that our culture uses this sacred lantern merely for display or decoration strips the unit of its meaning in entirety. symbols such as color or style of make are no longer held onto when they are mass produced and distributed amongst the culturally ignorant.
