i think that this revision is nice. --- adding the backside really adds another dimension, a cause and effect event. the story seems to have a beginning and an end, which is a nice touch.

i see this as the sad mass production of a once sacred object, to the end result of a native and her natural or obvious disdain in regards to the entire phenomenon. something amusing to me that i did not catch before were the lanterns swimming about at the onlookers feet. it is subtle, yet shows a gross abundance of these objects.

i wonder if the idea of the back side of the postcard again could be furthered in terms of the setting in which this young woman and the lanterns appear. i know that at an earlier stage, you had talked about the mass production of the lanterns in china then being sent to the states and sold at big lots. the background here looks fairly neutral, therefore i wonder if dropping the girl and the lanterns into an americanized institution would extend this idea that the girl is agitated about the fact that one of her sacred cultural icons is being exploited and depreciated in another place. --- much like the image of the overflowing lanterns in the wal-mart.

the animation is really fantastic. the fade in fade out effect and amount of time between each picture really sets a mood.

this animation (obviously) really gives the audience a full story from beginning to end. its got quite a bit of emotion to it and not only fully portrays a negative tone, but shows WHY it is a negative tone. the story is clearly marked through each transition from the birth of the lantern, to its death.

nicely done.

ahhhh. thank you Angie Budd. Your comments confirm that everything I intended to convey is in fact coming through. You've summed up my thoughts and intentions quite eloquently. Thank you for noticing the the lanterns on the floor.

I think the idea about an american institution is something appropriate for you to explore in this next phase.
